# 56 : (VIDEO) : BHAGAVAD GITA : CHAPTER 5 : " The Yoga of Action and Knowledge " : INTRODUCTION

“…in the midst of all this action… inwardly maintain this consciousness ‘I do not do anything’…the state of actionless-ness is achieved when ‘I am the doer’ mentality is not there. So the 5th Chapter…elaborates upon that concept which was actually introduced towards the end of the 4th Chapter.”

# 55 : (AUDIO) : BHAGAVAD GITA : CHAPTER 5 : "The Yoga of Action and Knowledge" : OVERVIEW

“Karma Sanyasa can be done only by a person who has purified his intellect, his inner personality, through the practice of Karma Yoga”.

“All Bhogas (enjoyments)… born out of sense contacts… are virtually sources of dukkha  (sorrow).  Why? They have a beginning.  They have an end”.

“He, who is able to withstand…the momentum generated by desires, anger and such passions, such a person, is… a true Yogi.  He, is indeed, truly a happy human being”.

# 54 : (VIDEO) : BHAGAVAD GITA : CHAPTER 4 : " The Yoga of Knowledge as well as the disciplines of Action and Knowledge " : EXPOSITION OF VERSES 32 TO 42

“Karma is practiced, not for its own sake. It is only as a preparation to the realization of the supreme Brahman.”
“In that knowledge, all karmas culminate…all the karmas done in the spirit of karma yoga and the state of naishkarmayam, ultimately they are meant to take the aspirant to the realization of Brahman.”

“Krishna encourages the spirit of questioning…That openness and self enquiry has always been there from the early days of the Upanishads. So pariprashna is important…”

“(Verse 39)…this is one of my favorite verses. The one who has got shraddha will attain to knowledge.”

# 52 : (VIDEO) : BHAGAVAD GITA : CHAPTER 4 : " The Yoga of Knowledge as well as the disciplines of Action and Knowledge " : EXPOSITION OF VERSES 24 TO 31

“It is that one divine truth that is manifest through all beings, all things, all…actions. So our ordinary actions or our religious duties, all of them can be converted into a yagna.”

“Offering the self (ego) as an aahuti into the fire of Brahman. So to reach the state of realization of Aham Brahmasmi, this aham must come to an end.”

“By getting things you are not going to attain moksha. Moksha has nothing to do with getting. It is always in giving, abandoning, renouncing...so sacrifice this little self into the fire of Brahman. The ego has to end, the ‘I’ has to end.”
